NEWS/DOC

Currently I've been focusing on my documentary rather than news stories (sorryMr. Muench). The current title is "Hello, Welcome to the Summit!". The documentary is about two caretakers who look over the Stratton Fire Tower and they tell stories of their past and present. I got the interviews and B-Roll all set I just need to edit. I was the director and my brother, Tate, was the DP on Day 1 and I took over the B-Roll Day 2. On Day 2 me and my parents hiked up to the Fire Tower and I got some footage of wildlife and Day 1 Tate got footage of the couple. We relied mostly on natural light and used still shots when interviewing them. We made the mistake of Day 1 with a long period of footage having the sound off so we had to restart and ask the same questions (which are down below). We're going to add music once I'm done editing. Overall, I've had a good experience working on this documentary and once I'm done I'm going to be working on more fictional short films that I have written.

The upcoming film "Joker" (from director Todd Phillips) has families worried about how it depicts violence in a society fueled by rage. In an NBC News Story a reporter interviewed those who suffered losing their loved ones in the 2012 mass shooting in a movie theater at a preview screening of "The Dark Knight Rises". Both films include violence and contain similar characters from the same studio. The news story above doesn't show the reporter but focuses on footage from the film, B-Roll of cops outside the aurora movie theater, brief clips from interviews with the families, and an IGN interview with actor Joaquin Phoenix who talks about how the movie doesn't depict the main character as someone with a violent vendetta just because (rather the violence serves a purpose in the story and the film doesn't make you feel empathy for the main character). The two victims believe the film should not be shown and would cause real world violence (which director Todd Phillips says the film wouldn't and shouldn't). The film has yet to be shown to viewers but it's already being talked about.
