NEWS STORIES:

The making of the news stories took about a week to film and a few days to plan. We decided to film our news story about the recent 20 Million Dollar Grant our school was given. We interviewed our Headmaster Mark Tashjian, Associate Head of our School Meg Kenny, and one of our music teachers Neil Freebern.

We were given inside information about what the 20 Million Dollar Grant was going into... A new building. The building will have a new courtyard near the Faculty Parking Lot and up on the green the new building will be there. The building will offer students a new and modern place to have their classes. The blue prints for the building are underway yet they still have yet to build it. It's expected to be finished within the next couple years.

Mr. Tashjian and Ms. Kenny gave very vauge info on the building and what exactly it would hold. Mr. Freebern had given us different information explaining when and where the meeting for the faculty to discuss the new building and also reiterated what Mr. Tashjian and Ms. Kenny said about where the building will be and what it'll offer.

Mr. Freebern also went into detail about when they had the idea to have it and he also played a big part into where and what the building could look like. From what we know, it'll be for the best for the students and some of the faculty.

Our second news story was about the upcoming event going in Manchester... ITVfest.

ITVfest is a festival that offers creators the freedom to present what TV shows they want to make and have them present a Concept Pilot. The Festival will be held from October 9th to October 14th with many events with creators presenting what they made, speeches about what it's like to be a creator, and on the last day there's a big party for creators and volunteers that could attend.

Volunteers can sign up on their website (https://www.itvfest.com). In the future (or present) you can show off what you made. You just need to let them know.

We interviewed one of the heads of the festival, Philip Gilbin Jr. He gave us the information on how it works and how people could volunteer. He mainly talked about why ITVfest was created (to provide people present TV shows rather than films) and also explained why it's being held in Manchester (he likes the town and thinks it's the perfect place to hold such event).

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Like the interviews, I didn't set-up the shots but I did do more of the lighting during the news stories. The lighting turned out to be an important part of our interviews and how it should look and feel when interviewing the people we did. I also did not end up editing any of the news stories. Instead I've been on the side lines (metaphorically).

The process of setting up an interview took a bit (mostly due to the camera and lighting challenges we would have). We messed up saying a few lines for an introduction to the stories a few times but when we got it, it turned out great. The people we were interviewing didn't seem to mess up (only a couple of times we would have to reset). Besides the difficulties we had a good time making the stories.

The B-Roll we got was also nice. We got some shots of the meeting with the teachers about the building and it looks really nice and smooth when it comes to cutting the interview. That was the only real B-Roll we got but it did turn out nice and we didn't have any challenges until we had to leave.

So all and all, I think we got some special stuff I'm excited to show and tell people about.
